ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ed Miracle was born on the Mexican border within walking distance of the Rio Grande. The first born of a man forever in search of greener pastures, he spent his youth on the Pacific shores of California, open spaces of West Texas, mountains of Colorado, and lakes and swamps of Florida.
Miracle was inspired by a mother whose artistic talents included painting, sculpture and ceramics, as well as being accomplished on the piano, violin and guitar. Through all of Miracle’s adventures and endeavors, the one constant in his life was his art and in 1963 he turned professional. From the beginning, he pursued his craft with determination, researching and studying the Masters, and working in one of the most competitive and renowned art colonies in America, Laguna Beach.
In the early 70's, Miracle's paintings were selling well. With studios in Laguna Beach and Palm Springs, and a steady following from his work with the Pageant of the Masters, many were surprised when he took a year off from painting to concentrate on improving his drawing skills. Several of his most popular paintings grew from the sketches and ideas he developed that year and right from the start, "I Told You So" was a hit.
With his early success, Miracle’s work became increasingly popular. He worked with John Carradine at the Fox Theater in San Diego, traveled with the American Ballet Company, created the title paintings for George C. Scott’s “The Savage Is Loose”, and had commissioned works for the Pacific Coast Highway and President Ronald Reagan’s inauguration. It wasn’t long before Miracle became an international success, with his works in over 55 galleries worldwide. In 1984 Miracle decided to move to Europe.
Dividing his time between the small waterfront town of Folkstone, England and a live-aboard sailing yacht in the south of France, Miracle enjoyed a quiet, but successful, life as an artist. One day he was commissioned to paint a portrait for an Arab gentleman who sat for the portrait but never returned. Months passed without word, and then one day a letter arrived from him, along with an invitation to visit his home country.
The man who sent for him was Sheikh Abdullah, a member of the royal family of Sharjah, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. Originally scheduled to stay in the country for the duration of his 90 day visa, Miracle ended up staying in the UAE for the next decade, doing commissioned paintings and sculptures for the royal families of Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman.
Miracle has since returned to the US and now resides in South Florida, currently working on sculpture.
